Whitby Goth Weekend is one of the longest running alternative lifestyle events in the UK. Hosted in Whitby since 1994, this fantastic event started primarily as a music event with an attached market, but over the years the market has grown and grown until it now occupies 3 venues around the town. WGW has become one of the premier goth events in the world, not just the UK, and routinely draws thousands of visitors from all over the world every Spring and Summer.

There are visitors from all walks of life, and with a enormous variety of traders spread across the venues, there is something here for everyone. And it’s not just for goths – steampunks, bikers, emos, and people from any other alternative lifestyle you can think of regularly visit this amazing three-day event.

Tickets to the music events can be purchased via the event’s website, here. The market, known as the Bizarre Bazaar, is entirely free to browse.

The Little Blue Gem can be found in the Brunswick Centre venue at every event!

Another event that has been running since 2011, it is now run by steampunk duo Jo and Si Burgoyne-Neal of Captain Cumberpatch’s Curious Creations, who have taken the event from its beginnings in Leftbank to all across West Yorkshire.

Held in spring and autumn at Armley Mills, the flooding in 2015 drove the event to go ‘on tour’, as it were, and it is now held in various places throughout the year, with each event at a different exciting venue.

With a range of traders geared towards the steampunk clientele that frequent the events, and a variety of activities and food vendors, it’s a great day out whatever venue it’s at.

Some events have an entry fee, payable to the museum in which the market is held.

The Little Blue Gem regularly trades on Saturdays only.
